And don’t forget to say hi to us!
Mountain Path Meadows sits at the foot of dormant volcano crater Mount Schank, 15 minutes south of South Australia’s second largest city, Mount Gambier. We’re also only 15 minutes to the beautiful beaches of Port MacDonnell. Plus, Mountain Path Meadows is only a day’s drive from both Adelaide and Melbourne … strategically located at the end (or beginning?) of the Great Ocean Road.
After you check Mount Schank off your list, explore the surrounding Limestone Coast
Mount Schank is just the beginning. Nearby attractions include:
Mount Gambier: famous for its Blue Lake and volcanic features
Little Blue Lake: a hidden gem for nature lovers
Coonawarra wine region: sample world-class wines after your hike
Land of Sinkholes and Cenotes
The Limestone Coast boasts myriad sinkholes, cenotes, craters and caves for you to marvel at during your stay. The Mount Schank Scenic Walk borders our property and is a glorious way to start the day, in our very biased opinion. But that’s not all! There’s so much more to explore, including:
Little Blue Lake, only 5 minutes drive from Mountain Path Meadows -- and you can swim here!
Umpherston Sinkhole / Balumbul, a magical place we’ve heard described as a ‘real-life fairy garden.’ Keep an eye out for the resident possums!
Cave Gardens / Thugi, located smack-dab in the middle of Mount Gambier. Visit after a big rain and admire the waterfalls that form!
Naracoorte Caves, South Australia’s only world heritage site, just a bit over an hour’s drive up the road.
With more cafes per capita than any other South Australian region*, Mount Gambier and surrounds is heaven for a coffee connoisseur. Whether you like long blacks, flat whites, or earl grey, we went to the trouble of testing out the Limestone Coast’s cafe offerings and rounded up the best for you on our blog.
